How to Add and Reorder Product Media With Alt Text

This guide shows how to add images to a product, give them alt text, put them in order, and set a variant image.

In your Shopify admin, click Products.
Open the product.
Scroll to Media. Click Select existing to add an image you've already uploaded, or Upload new.
The Select file window opens with your files.
Tick the image and click Done.
The image is added to the product's media.
Click the image to open its details. The Alt text field describes it for screen readers and search.
Shopify can suggest alt text.
Type clear alt text that describes the image, and save.
Check the other images too.
To reorder media, drag an image into place. The first image is the main product image.
In Variants, click a variant's image to choose one.
In Select image, pick the image for that variant.
The variant now shows its image.
Click Save. A message confirms the changes were saved.
